Another new school year begins...

It can't be happening! Another school year already, this time year 3 for Liam and year 1 for Beth. My babies have morphed into schoolchildren right in front of my eyes, and they continue to grow bigger and bigger all the time! What can I do to slow down time and hold onto them forever??!!! Oh how I love these two. Days like today bring an ache to my heart (and a tear to my eyes) as I realise another milestone is reached; they are growing up, and will keep on growing up; sooner rather than later they'll be teenagers, then adults and the years of childhood will all be over. Having children of your own is one thing most people look forward to in life and hope for, and everybody tells you how quickly they grow up. Yet not many people speak of the bittersweet feelings - the excitement and joy of milestones reached, with the breaking of the heart as each milestone means a permanent change, and another chapter of life has passed. Where did my babies go???

Friends... @ Alma Park Zoo

We have just enjoyed a visit from Wendy, our friend from the USA who we met eight years ago at YWAM. We enjoyed spending time with her after all these years, and loved looking back at our YWAM photos together! Liam and Beth loved her company too! Our visit to Alma Park Zoo on the weekend was relaxing and fun.

Theatre, rain, sandwiches, art...

Another of Andy's days off saw us venture into town to see a fantastic show at the Playhouse called 'Letter's End'. We all really enjoyed the show, as well as later trying to find ways to get from QPAC to GOMA without getting wet from the rain (no umbrellas that day!) We lunched at the cafe of the Museum, huddling around our table to avoid getting wet.

At GOMA, the current exhibition involves art from the first decade of the 21st century. There are many hands-on activities throughout the exhibition for children to participate in. One such activity is the city construction zone - thousands of white lego pieces that children can build with and add onto the 'buildings' already constructed along the table.

The swimming pool exhibit was one of the most popular - created to present the illusion of a swimming pool, yet people are able to walk inside the 'pool' and be viewed from above.

Movieworld VIPs

For a little while now we have been talking about buying VIP passes to Movieworld, Seaworld and Wet'n'Wild. In the first week of January, while Andrew was off work for the week, we took the plunge, bought our passes, and made our first visit to Movieworld!!! It was a HOT day and packed with people, but we had a great time together exploring the park and trying out various rides. We convinced the kids to try the small roller-coaster in the Looney Tunes children's area - Beth's first time on such a ride. As we zipped around, I spend most of the time pretending to enjoy it, but secretly wondering when Beth was going to start crying to get off... The ride ended and she happily exclaimed "I'm never going on a roller coaster again!"
