All by himself...

So we're at the age where sometimes finding something to do during the school holidays is a little challenging... But it also means we're at the age when it's time to start doing things on one's own. On the first morning of the recent school holidays, Liam was ready for morning tea when Beth and I hadn't even had breakfast yet! When I suggested he make pancakes/ pikelets without any help, he jumped at the chance!

 

What a great job! They were so yummy! Liam had a ball and said it was so much fun, and of course he ran his own commentary the whole time!!!

Our Japanese girl...

The year 2s were studying Japan last term, which culminated in a dress-up day. We were loaned a bright pink kimono, and we held it together with a red sash. Cute!

That time of year again...

Sports Days have come and gone again!

This year Liam was part of the upper junior school carnival held at the Aspley Little Athletics sports field at Geebung and involved a lot more field events than he had done before. Long jump, shot put and high jump, as well as the usual 100m and 800m races over two days were a real thrill for Liam. It was great to be able to go along and enjoy the sunshine whilst watching our boy clear the high jump bar a couple of times.

At Beth's athletics carnival, there was a GREAT lot of excitement when she managed to come second in her 100m heat. Not sure who was more excited - Beth or me?!!

Yummmm... Yorkies!

I think we've only done Yorkshire puddings once or twice before... These ones were wild! Puffed up beautifully and sooo yummy with a recent roast dinner with our great buddies.

The joys of cubby building...

It's happening more and more now that the kids are big enough to build their own cubbies. That's right - no longer is it solely up to Mummy or Daddy to peg up the sheets or stack heavy books on blankets in order to create cosy little hidey-holes to play in. They've figured out they can decide when and where a cubby is to be built, plus also decorate their own domains to suit their tastes. It's so lovely to peek inside to see Liam curled up with a book, or Beth's little 'home-away-from-home' with all her books, tiaras, favourite cuddlies, pillow, etc. Love it!

Veggie patch...

Another item ticked off the list! Andy finally had the opportunity to use his Christmas present to cut the perfectly angled sleepers to build our veggie patch. We visited the Pine Rivers markets to collect some seedlings and had them planted out that afternoon. To top it all off, we picked up a super bargain on Gumtree: the tumbleweed compost maker means we can also now turn our chicken droppings, kitchen scraps etc into compost for the garden! It's all happening...

Killing time...

Liam and I find ourselves spending a couple of hours each week filling in time while Beth is at ballet lessons. The iPad usually comes along for the ride and Liam often has all sorts of fun making movies, taking pictures, and playing a few games, of course! Sometimes, I even get a turn!!!
